When Grant and I lived at the apartment, I promised him that when we moved into a house, the first thing I would do is buy him a swing set for outback. I wanted to stay under $1k, but I wanted something that looked nice for him.
I searched online for a few days, and ended up going with the Backyard Discovery Atlantis Swing set from Walmart (other sites sell it too, but the best deal was on Walmart.) It was $598, and $99.98 for shipping.
I ended up tipping the delivery driver $20 to bring it into my backyard so I didn’t have to lug the boxes back there myself.
One of the boards arrived broken (my luck), so I contacted the company Backyard Discovery and they sent out a new one. The process was very easy, but ended up taking two weeks to receive the new piece.
The instructions are very easy. There were a few parts near the end where I wasn’t sure exactly where to put in screws, but the company has an online chat and they are VERY responsive!
Once I had the missing piece, it took me two weekends to do. I never needed a helper (even though Grant certainly tried, which was adorable), and I used a power drill for most of it which made the process faster.
My mother kept calling in between going, “Alicia, you need a man to help you build this.” But turns out, no man was needed! I was able to do everything myself, and happy that Grant got to watch his mom build his play set for him.
Ignore the garden bed full of weeds behind 🙂
The wood is definitely not the best, some boards felt WAY too thin. It’s made for children up to 10 years of age, so you won’t catch me on it at any point. I think for the cost though, you can’t beat it. I wasn’t able to find anything within that price point that was anywhere near as nice as this one.
I’m SO glad this project is done, and now Grant has something outback to help keep him occupied while I’m working.
