Today I went to a few garage sales, and one of the items I found was this large, beautiful oil painting.
I paid $10 for it, and managed to squeeze it into my car.
I wanted the painting to go on this wall in my kitchen since I needed something to fill the space. That horrible frame was bothering me though. I hate those hideous, outdated 70’s looking frames with canvas material in between the wood. You find them on almost all thrift store finds, and they make the painting look outdated and ….something you’d find at a thrift store.
I found this white gloss spray paint in my garage, so I didn’t have to spend a dime on this little project. l just took the painting out of the frame, took the frame outside, and laid it on top of a box I had in my backyard from Grant’s play set.
You can see the box was drenched because of how much rain we had lately. LUCKILY today we haven’t had any rain, so it was a great time to get this done!
I ended up doing 4 coats of the paint. I’d do one coat, wait about 20 minutes, and then proceed to the next.
SO much better on the eyes! A frame really sets the tone for the painting, and can completely take away from the painting itself. I’m really happy with how this looks in the kitchen! So if you find any thrift store, or garage sale paintings with that hideous frame, do the painting a favor, and PAINT THAT!
